Every Wednesday I’ll be Joining the Dots on international affairs via the world of books. (My regular blogs will still be on my website: https://www.rashmee.com)
But this substack, This Week, Those Books will look at books that resonate with the news and developments of a particular week.
Why?
I read a lot of books you see. And I’m a news junkie.
The few minutes you take to read this newsletter will make you smarter, faster…guaranteed. Here, you will find a deep dive on fiction and non-fiction about the week’s big story and/or perfect watercooler convo and dinner party small talk. (The first post about books on ‘dictator chic’ is here. The second post on ecocide and the late, great Cormac McCarthy is here. The third about what to read on Russia, revolts and 1917 is here.)
Let’s Connect
I’d love to hear more about you. Tell me…
What part of the world are you in?
Is there something for which you’d love to join the dots via the world of books?
Let me know in chat or via Notes!
I end with a photograph that I hope is as inspirational as it is sweet. Our little Saaya had a slipped disc, was operated on and recovered, almost fully, which is to say 80 per cent of what she was before. You can see the scar running down her long back. She keeps going – wagging her tail and taking joy in her umwelt, her perceptual universe, as per the semiotic theories of biologist Jakob von Uexküll.
Come with me, as we do the same by Joining the Dots.
Thank you for being here in whatever way you can.
If you like this weekly post, please share widely. Remember, you get the whole thing here and only here. It’s absolutely nowhere else.
Yours
